New research by a charitable organisation discovered that 12 million people in Britain are being affected by allergies caused by their own house, with mattresses and beds being the biggest culprit due to house dust mite collected within the material.

Allergy UK found out that a large amount of people are affected by dust mites, pets, mould and cleaning products, and these allergies are more problematic in the through winter due to people using central heating. 59% of people which suffer from allergic reactions state that the conditions are worse in the bedroom, as the heat often provides a perfect nest for dust mites. The average bed may be home to two million dust mites, and the typical pillow doubles in weight over a six month period as a result of dust mite faeces, showing the importance of frequently cleaning and replacing your bedding and the bed itself.

Homeowners that are looking to change the beds in their home have some of possibilities open to them to, so it's important to fully research what type of mattresses, beds and bed frames you want within your house, especially if you are susceptible to allergies.

Experts advise that you should improve your single mattresses and double mattresses at least every 8 - 10 years, whereas at present 13% the public have had their current mattress for 11 years or more.
